What I am currently reading... Oh and some other stuff

So I figured I would do a new post on what I am currently reading or will read. That is all. The Quarter has started so I am starting to get busy. I am hoping to start my independent study and start my research project. This hopefully could turn into a thesis in Grad School in the near future.

I am about to start reading this Ethnography by Steven Gregory called The "Devil Behind The Mask: Globalization and Politics"  for my Anthropology 470 course Globalization and Power. I just checked out a book from my University library called "The Bases of Empire: The Global Struggle against U.S. Military Posts" by Dr. Catherine Lutz, professor of Anthropology at Brown University. I guess I was the first person ever to check out the book at our Library. That didn't surprise me at the least. Not to many people care about the Militarization of culture in our society and that we are all living in a Modern day Rome. An Empire. A Militarized State/Empire.

I will just keep checking out the book until I finish reading it. No one is going to check it out anyways. I bet when I checked out this book, the transaction was sent to you know who. The State. It's common knowledge that this surveillance via wiretapping, emails, library checkouts, etc get sent to some fusion center somewhere. Fusion centers are these centers that work along with local and National law enforcement and intelligence agencies to collect information on U.S. Citizens. Essentially spying on us. I think the closest Fusion center here in the I.E. is in Santa Ana and LA.

The Unblind in 2013

Well I said I hope to start blogging and writing on my blog much more in 2013. The reason I created this blog in the first place was to start blogging and writing about issues of Injustice being committed on a daily basis, specifically the injustice committed by the Hegemonic Powers that be: Those apart of this Global elite apparatus that include my own Country I reside in the United States and its various government agencies, Bankers and Corporations and whoever is behind the curtain pulling the strings and their allies around the world, and whoever else commits injustice to all humans around the World we live in today.

The direction of this blog will come with an Anthropological twist. I am an Undergraduate Anthropology Major at California State University, San Bernardino and will finally finish my undergrad in June 2013. It's been a long journey of almost a decade since I finished High School in 2004. I changed Majors and Minors various times throughout the journey and faced many trials and tribulations and almost gave up a few times in the process.  All awhile I am accumulating student debt that I am dreading to have to face with slim job prospects out there for "Fresh College Graduates"  and I am about to enter a work force that is hanging by a thread. Fiscal cliff anyone? LOL. Not to mention that Anthropology is a social science discipline that you choose as a career  not for the love of the money as most college students choose their majors  on this basis alone, as I once did when I was once a Business Administration Major with a Concentration in Marketing (See: Anthropology: Worst Major for Corporate Tool, Best Major to Change Your Life)

Anthropology fulfills the need that has been inside me since birth, to help change the world and make it better for all humans (I think being born with a disability,  my upbringing,  environment, and most of all being human have contributed to this need). I know I am only one man, one human in this vast Universe but I have made it my life long goal in life. Anthropology will be a tool I will use to accomplish this. I am going to Graduate School and hopefully as soon as this upcoming August 2013. I am applying for the Applied Anthropology Masters program at San Jose State University in hopes of studying under Anthropologist Dr. Roberto Gonzalez. I was going to wait it out a year and apply to PhD programs for 2014 but  I don't want to sit around and linger for a year and then somehow never return to school so I will shoot for a PhD program after my Masters. As with this blog, my focus will be to study militarism and Culture (Military Industrial Complex), The Surveillance State (Police State) and Counterinsurgency. I am also interested in Post Colonialism and Social movements and I guess I fall under the Applied Anthropology/Socio-cultural Anthropology field, since ultimately I am studying to be a Cultural Anthropologist.

I figure no one will read this post since I don't really have an audience but my next post will be about the formation of a partnership between U.S. Intelligence Agencies like the CIA, FBI, NSA, and Homeland Security and Universities across the U.S. and specifically Social science and Anthropology's role, which has been  well documented by Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. David Price of St. Martin's College in Lacy, Washington.  The most intiguing part: My University CSUSB and my own College of Social and Behavioral Sciences is participating.

Here are some books:

1. Militarizing Culture: Essays on the Warfare Sate by Dr. Gonzalez

2. Weaponizing Anthropology: Social Science in Service of the Militarized State

3. Threatening Anthropology: McCarthyism and the FBI’s Surveillance of Activist Anthropologists

The last 2 are written by Dr. David Price.

Through struggle,
